Pre-Budget Submission

CBAA calls for increased sector investment in 26/27 Budget

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia made a submission seeking additional investment in community broadcasting in the 2026-27 Federal Budget, requesting funding from relevant agencies for 5 critical initiatives:

  • Lifting contemporary Australian music airplay
  • Addressing regional news deserts
  • National disability-led media and information
  • Multicultural media for social cohesion
  • Emergency ready broadcasters.

Entries for the Walkley Foundation's Mid-Year Prizes are open now and will close on 13 April. This a great chance to test your work against the best of Australian journalists, and to be recognised for your contribution to community media and Australia's media landscape as a whole. Grant Opportunities

Volunteer Grants soon to open

The 2025–26 Volunteer Grants program, delivered by the Australian Government through the Department of Social Services, supports community organisations that rely on volunteers by helping remove barriers to participation and promoting volunteering opportunities. Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to eligible not-for-profit organisations that depend on volunteers to deliver their work.

Eltham Jazz Plenty Valley

Plenty Valley FM amplifies Eltham Jazz Festival

Last weekend, in collaboration with the Eltham Jazz, Food and Wine Festival and Vision Australia Radio in Victoria, Plenty Valley FM brought one of the Southern Hemisphere's best jazz experiences to community radio listeners around Melbourne and further afield thanks to a multiplatform approach - traditional FM, DAB+ via Vision Australia Radio's IRIS service and through streaming on a range of platforms including Community Radio Plus. Congratulations to everyone involved on a great outside broadcast!
