Caleb James Davis

With the release of his new single "All I Can Do", Caleb James Davis brings a new feel to a classic genre by using an indie approach to classic folk all while using the emotional platform good folk songs are built from. The single guides with soft struck progressions, soulful vocal, and the smooth layered melodies of a saxophone to bring added texture and life to it as a whole. All in all the song comes from a place anyone can understand.

"All I Can Do is just the beginning of the phrase “All I Can Do is want you.” It's a simple enough idea presented in fairly vague but poetic terms. The lyrics aim to tackle or at least explore the idea of love at first sight while already being in a relationship. It is something that most of us are faced with at one point or another and then more often then not expected to remain silent about. In my case meeting someone and knowing that the “right” thing to do is not to pursue this other person but still retaining that feeling of loss. Wondering if maybe this individual was the not just the “one” but maybe the will of something greater." Caleb says of his single.

Before the release of "All I Can Do", Caleb had released an EO by the name of Old & New. A set of songs reaching into a more Americana folk sound but still in a similar vein. Addictive progressions, and melodic vocals,  and a unique phrasing style at times. All this was preparation for evolving as a songwriter.

Caleb explains, "Less is more. Less is more with lyrics, instrumentation and recording. Being able to hear every instrument as a cohesive whole is very important when recording. Tracking this song helped give me a more clear idea of how I want to produce and write my music. Lyrically it was very simple, I wrote it as if I was writing a poem. The experience of removing the music from the lyrics allowed me to spend more time on the lyrics, shaping them to how I really wanted them to read and sound."

Caleb James Davis had been writing songs for over six years and it all began from playing guitar as a supplement to his drumming, his primary instrument. Growing up listening to country music, the natural thing was to pick up a guitar and start writing. After moving to Vermont and having no outlet for drumming, Caleb kept himself busy by writing songs and performing locally. He know continues writing and furthering his musical education as he peruses a Music Performance Degree.

With the release of "All I Can Do", caleb is planning on playing shows in the greater Boston area, as well as putting together a Southeast tour.
