Mojo Watson – Biography

Mojo Watson is an independent recording artist, guitarist, and songwriter whose music lives at the crossroads of blues, soul, rock, and jazz. With a sound that is both timeless and fresh, Mojo carries forward the legacy of the blues while shaping it into his own distinctive voice.

Since releasing his debut album Summer Is Near in 1999, Mojo has built an impressive catalog of nearly 100 published songs, all released through his own label, Watashea Records. Albums such as Inheritance (2002), Black Beauty (2004), 18th & Agnes (2007), and Geechy Woman (2011) showcase his versatility—ranging from raw, emotional blues to groove-driven, soul-infused rock.

As the sole owner of his masters and publishing rights, Mojo embodies the spirit of independence. His songs have been featured on independent radio stations and streaming platforms worldwide, earning respect within the blues community and beyond.

What sets Mojo apart is his ability to blend storytelling with musicianship. His guitar playing is steeped in the tradition of the greats, yet always pointed forward, while his lyrics capture the struggles, joys, and lived experiences that make the blues eternal.

With every performance and recording, Mojo Watson reaffirms his place as a torchbearer for modern blues—authentic, passionate, and unafraid to walk his own path.

CrashMonkeys Unleash “New Young Generation” — A Defiant Anthem for 2025

Santa Cruz, CA — May 14th, 2025 — Rock rebels CrashMonkeys return in full force with the explosive new single “New Young Generation”, out now on all major streaming platforms. Marking the first release from their upcoming third album of the same name, this hard-hitting track is a rallying cry for anyone fed up with generational finger-pointing and tired narratives.

This one came from a real place of frustration — I’d had enough of hearing what the next generation is and isn’t. So I wrote a song about who they are, and where they’re going.” says Stel Furet, founder and lead vocalist of CrashMonkeys.

Driven by raw guitars, punchy drums, and a no-apologies vocal delivery, “New Young Generation” channels the spirit of '90s rock rebellion with a 2025 attitude — gritty, loud, and unfiltered. The track confronts intergenerational blame with blistering energy, capturing the essence of a band that’s never been afraid to speak its mind.

“New Young Generation” features:

  • Production by Stel Furet
  • A DIY ethos that reflects the band’s roots in the Bay Area alt-rock scene
  • A video dropping soon that’s as punchy as the track itself
  • Early buzz on TikTok and Instagram Reels under #NewYoungGeneration

Tuneful but glamorously shambolic rock n’ roll band CrashMonkeys create a lo-fi style of rock that defined primary singer-songwriter, and guitarist Stel Furet’s early years. Stel's vocals have been described as a mix of Tom Petty and Mark Lanegan – with a touch of Scott Weiland thrown in for good measure. Drummer Brent Williams, and Bassist Stu Kellermyer are both veterans of the Santa Cruz punk scene.
